Our #EuARe2026 panel with Susanna Trotta and Valeria Fabretti Entangled Encounters: Material and Social Transformation of Religious Communities in Europe highlighted how the notion of entangled encounters offers a productive lens for analysing religion in postmigrant Europe, showing how relational processes reshape traditions, visibility, and belonging.
Through various cases, including my work on the public negotiation of sexuality in Muslim dating‑app advertising, the panel illustrated how contemporary religious life is shaped by multidirectional, webbed interactions across social, spatial, and material contexts.

This year, I presented at Annual Conference of the Center for the Study of Conversion and Inter-Religious Encounters (CSoC) 2026 at Ben-Gurion University. The conference brought together scholars from different traditions to explore how authority is negotiated, how visibility is granted or withheld, and how internal debates shape women’s roles within religious communities. I’m looking forward to contributing to this conversation and learning from the perspectives of colleagues across disciplines and traditions.
